Study on Life Extension Effect of Benzo-pentagonal Heterocyclic Compound XST-125
Xue Situ, PhD, Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
Osteoporosis seriously affects the health and lifespan of the elderly. After years of research, our research group has found that a class of five-membered benzo heterocyclic compounds, represented by XST-125, have a definite effect in promoting bone formation in senile osteoporosis. On this basis, the mechanism was clarified and the structure was precisely optimized in this project through chemical and biological methods, so as to improve the efficacy and reduce the off-target effect. Additionally, the effects of derivatives on bone mass, fracture incidence and fracture recovery were systematically evaluated, and their clinical value in the treatment of senile osteoporosis was elucidated. Further, the correlations between intervention with osteoporosis and other aging-related factors and life prolonging were clarified, and preclinical drug research was carried out. The project is intended to contribute to the improvement in the efficacy and even health and longevity of elderly patients with osteoporosis.
